THE WOMB OF THE EARTH

HEALING TOUCH OF LAKE ATITLAN

This collection of work takes place in the magical land of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala, a sanctuary of light and healing of the Ancient Mayan traditions. May the volcanoes, waters and faces of this land be reminders of simple living and the sacred ceremony between the earth and humanity. The veil of illusion is thin here at Lake Atitlán. Maya becomes a dance at far distance as both the locals and visitors sink into the vortex of non-dual existence. Relationships are formed at the depths of “being”, peeled off and untouched by identity.

In these photos I am hoping to portray another way to show up to meet our lives. When we take a moment to pause and remember that there’s an ancient lake surrounded by volcanoes somewhere on earth where the intention of the community is to exist with the land symbiotically, we are introduced with an alternative to dysfunctional, painful, and harmful ways of engaging with our daily lives. Imagine, then, all the possible ways of limitless existence. It becomes easier to choose love when we know what is possible.
